DANCE

This year the Columbia Institute offers Preschool level girls an Initiation Dance Course. The girls develop their motor and musical abilities that will allow them to acquire coordination, rhythm, and flexibility. They will also practice values such as: order, discipline, individual and team work.

   
   

 

SPORTS

The Columbia Institute offers its students the opportunity to develop their coordination skills and team work as well as how to generate self-confidence through team sports. Sports are not obligatory in our institute, but nevertheless upon registering for any sport, the student will be committed to attend all activities that the team demands.

   
 

 

SCIENCE

As part of our Science curriculum, the students develop and apply their field work abilities throughout different activities.

Science Fair
Since 1993, sixteen years to this date, Columbia Institute, carries out its annual Science Fair. The themes are free choice and the students must work individually.

Jason Project
El Jason Project, founded and administered by Ph. D. Robert Ballard (Titanic´s discoverer) and supported by the TEC (Tecnológico de Monterrey), allows for the on-hand and virtual interaction of the students with several educational institution in an international level.

Green School
Columbia Institute has merited the Green School Certification since 2001, extended by FOMCEC (Fomento a la Cultura Ecológica). During these years we have provided the opportunity for our students to experiment the process of forestation and care of plants, instilling in the small children, love for our planet. To support this we have a permanent aluminum, plastic, paper and battery recycling campaign.

STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION CONTESTS
Columbia Institute participates in competitions programmed by the State Board of Education like: Mexican National Anthem, Flag Honor Guard, Children´s Roundelay, “Altar de Muertos”, Oratory, etc.

   
 

 

ICUNS

The Simulation of a United Nation session is an event that the Columbia Insitute has carried out since 1996. Each detail is supervised directly by the students, who test their abilities upon facing and trying to solve real world problems. It is a practical learning experience on: team work, speaking in public, investigation, debate, conciliation, synthesis and protocol among others.
