WHO WE ARE

HISTORY
Columbia Institute was founded in 1982 by a group of teachers with a vast experience in the field of education. Highly interested in the transmission of universal type of culture (values, habits, knowledge and information), Mrs. Theissen, Mrs. García and Mrs. Montemayor decided to undertake this task in order to serve the community.


1982
Columbia begins in a rented house, with borrowed furniture and 30 preschool age children.

  

1992
With one group of each First to Sixth Grades, Columbia Institute begins the year in the new Campus, previously inaugurated by the State’s Governor.

  

1997
Columbia’s fifteenth anniversary was celebrated with a lunch at El Regio attended by staff, the PA members, and SEP personalities.

  

2002
The founding members´ families made a remembrance video for the Directors and celebrated them with a Mariachi serenade.

  

2003 14th of October
Columbia Institute loses one of its founding members. Fundamental pillar of the values that support our institution and everlasting example of work, effort and dedication… Lic. Alejandra Montemayor Dávila, M.E.S.

  

 
 2009
Columbia Institute Today… An acknowledged institution in the community with 17 generations. Our former students stand out for their active participation in all the special projects and extra-curricular activities, such as Jason, Model United Nations, etc.

  
  

 

PHILOSOPHY
Columbia Institute, founded in 1982, established as a priority, the formation of good men and women who can adjust to their environment using their internal resources. This will allow them to be fulfilled and project all their efforts for the benefit of their society. We will accomplish this by providing an atmosphere of appreciation, respect, and self-improvement to everyone involved in the teaching-learning process thus developing a healthy self-esteem in them.

MISSION
Columbia wishes to develop humane, generous, creative, and enterprising men and women who commit themselves in the search for alternatives guided towards common good, thus aquiring their own well-being.
 
STAFF MEMBERS
Columbia’s staff is made up of responsible and committed teachers interested in constantly increasing their intellect, sensitivity and ability to adapt, innovate, and  select alternatives inasmuch as obtaining academic achievements and developing their abilities.
